Back to School

This week I went and saw an advisor at IUSB (Indiana University South Bend) to figure I what classes I may want to take, and what major I think I would like to work towards. I'm pretty sure I will be doing History, but what I haven't decided yet is if I will do just History or if I will do History with a concentration in Art History. If I do that then I would be looking a 21 credit hours of History, and 18 of Art History. I'm going to in a sense doing a Japanese and Chinese minor. Technically they don't offer a major or minor in that, but I'm going to take as much of it as I can in both languages, so that I feel like I am fluent in them. I had 3 years of Japanese in high school and enjoyed it a lot, and did very well in it. So while I can only afford to take 2 classes a semester, I am signed up for Civil War History and Japanese I. I got registered yesterday on line. Classes start August 28th.

So thats about it. Nothing else really going on that is very exciting this week. It's Saturday and I'm at work, so what does that tell you? LOL Well everyone enjoy your weekend!

Potato Creek State Park

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I went camping this weekend, and it was so nice to just get away and relax around a campfire. We went to Potato Creek State Park, and I was there with my friend Susan and her daughter Emily, along with other members from Susan's church. We were in the primitive group tent sites. I think everyone had a really good time. Especiallay a few of the kids that had never been camping before. It rained a bit on Friday night, but not hard enough to really be a problem. Saturday we relaxed in the morning, and then went to the beach after lunch for a while. It was a perfect day for being at the beach. The water was warm, and it wasn't so hot that you felt like you were baking out there. Sunday afternoon Susan, Emily, and I went out on the lake in a canoe. Emily had never been in a canoe before, and I'm not sure if Susan had or not. It was a lot of fun, and they even gave Emily a little kid's sized paddle so that she could have fun helping paddle. After that we headed back to the site to start packing things up to go home. That was the part that wasn't so fun. So check out the photo album from the weekend. It will be up there shortly. Everyone have a good week!

New Life

So this weekend I have decided to completely change my life around. Here is a list of things I'm going to do/change:

-Go Back to College, and Not Leave Until Done!
-Get Skinny!!!
-Follow a Financial Budget
-Start A Savings Account
-Stop Buying Things I Don't Need!

I'm really excited about all my changes I want to make. Yesterday I went with my mom and bought a whole stock of "Healthy" groceries. Today I made an appointment at IUSB (Indiana University of South Bend) to talk with an advisor about what credits I do have, and what major would be good to consider considering the credits I have. I'm thinking of either English or History with a concentration in Art History. I'm going to talk with my brother about the bank he uses, and possibly switch from my current bank. I have also written out my expenses Vs. my income to see what I have left over to budget off of. So that is my start so far, and I think it is a pretty good one.

Well I hope you all have a good week, and I will keep everyone posted on the things above that I accomplish.

This Week

So as stated in my last post we had a Car Show fundraiser at my church this past Saturday. It went very well, and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day to have it either. There were about 25 cars that showed up, which is pretty good, although we were hoping for more. Still we had a good time, and many people came to look at the cars. People voted for their favorite car by putting money in the buckets in front of that car. Then the people with the most money won trophies, and all the money went to Habitat for Humanity. Between the cars and the food stand we raised about $800.00. I think we plan on making it an anual event, and hope to get more and more cars every year.

After the car show we had a suprise birthday party for my mom. It was her 60th birthday, and it was great! Everyone was able to show up, and my mom's good friends from Illinois even came out for it. My mom was totally surprised, and had no clue what was coming. Her face was so red when she walked in the door. It was great!! While, my mom hates things like that, I think she still really enjoyed it.

The rest of this week has not been exciting, as I was out sick from work, and just laying at home feeling poopie. Today I am back at work though, and getting caught up on voice mails and e-mails. It stinks for pay check though being off work, but I do work over the weekend, so that will help make up for it a little anyways.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend!

Saturday Car Show

Well I hope everyone had a great 4th of July, and was able to enjoy some time off work. I had to work last Saturday, but I did get Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday off, so it was very enjoyable. On Tueasday, the 4th of July, my mom and I went out to the Shipshiwana flee markert which was a lot of fun because we had not been there in a long time. We were there for 3 hours and I don't think quite got through half of it. It's a huge flee market. Mom and I got lots of goodies. Then that night we had a cook-out out at my parents house. My brother and his girlfriend, Beth, came over. Of course we shot off fireworks as well. Mom hates us shooting them off, but I love it! :o)

So this coming Saturday our church is putting on a huge car show as a fund raiser for "Habitat for Humanity". It should be a lot of fun, and we are expecting a large number of cars, and hopefully a lot of just general spectators to look at all the cool old cars. Money will be made by people putting in dollar bills into a bucket with each car. This is how they vote for the cars they like the best. Then we will be giving out trophies to the top cars. It's going to be a lot of fun, and we're evening going to be having food and beverages. I'll be sure to take pictures of all the action and post them on here after Saturday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
