New phone

Well as I mentioned in a previous post, I was having issues with my cell phone. I really needed to get a new one because it was not ringing, so I was missing calls. Not really a good thing and basically defeats the purpose of having a cell phone, and since I use my cell phone as my main phone I pretty much need to have it available all the time. Needless to say there have been other things going on with it since I've had it, and it has just caused me problems.

So I went to Verizon Friday night, and the guy there that supposedly was to help me was absolutely no help at all. It was like he did not want to even sell me a phone, or bother helping me. I mean he is in sales, and I'm sure he is paid partially on commission here, so you'd think he would make some sort of effort, but no. After no help there, I returned on Sunday (yesterday) to get some "real" help, and luckily he was not there then. I worked with a lady that was extremely helpful, and helped me look at some with the "Bluetooth" feature that I wanted. This allows you to have a wireless headset. You can do some other fancy stuff with this feature, but the main reason I wanted it was because you can have a wireless headset and can be 30 feet away from your phone and using it.

Since the title of this entry is "New Phone", obviously you can figure out that I did find one I liked and purchased a new phone. This phone has so many gadgets, buttons, and features to it, it's just crazy. It's fun though. I mean it has the camera, but also can take little videos, so has a camcorder too, and it has an MP3 player of all things! lol Then you can even like access the internet and check your e-mail, the weather, movie times, basically just whatever. You can e-mail people pictures and videos that you take with it. Of course you can do the basics like text messaging, but then even if you access the internet you can even get on MSN messenger, or AOL IM, or Yahoo messenger of whatever if you have an account with one of those and chat on line through your phone. How crazy is that!? Too many new things to play with.

So you all have a good week, and I'm going to go study up with this manual and have fun playing with my new toy :o)

Bummed

Well today I am bummed because I found out that I did not get the part time job that I applied for at BuyCo. It wasn't that big of a deal. Just an extra little job that I could pick up some hours and extra cash at. The big bummer is that I'll lose out on the sweet employee discount and benefits that you get there. Apparently I had all the excellent qualifications and background that they were interested in, and perfect for the job, but my full time job schedule just didn't work out real well for the hours they needed. Well if I'm lucky they will still need me in the future, and realize how awesome I really am, and call me back. LOL Anyways that made it a bit of a bummer of a day, but life will go on.

Tonight I'm going to practice with our organ/piano person at church. Going to play through some things on my new flugelhorn just to see how they sound. Maybe we'll find something we want to play in church here in the near future. I'm just excited to see how the flugel sounds in the sanctuary, since I haven't really gotten to hear it in that type of setting yet.

After that I'm going to go over to Verizon and look at new cell phones. I think my phone is on it's last leg. I never hear it ring any more, and then all of a sudden I look at my phone and I've got missed calls and voicemails. Plus the colored screen has some bad pixels or something because I've got this purple streak in the bottom left hand corner that is always there. Also it doesn't seem like the battery lasts all that long.

Tomorrow I'm working again. Going to have to watch the first half of the Notre Dame game on a silent little b/w portable TV at work again till I can get home and watch the rest. I get to watch Notre Dame beat the snot out of BYU :o) That will make things all better again. Make sure you all tune in as well! Otherwise I hope you all have a good weekend whatever you are doing.

Scripture Reading

I forgot to post this weeks scripture reading in yesterdays post, so I wanted to be sure to put it on today. It is John Chapter 16. It is not as long as some of the other selected scripture readings I've had, but I encourage you to read it through a few times, as I am still studying it myself, and trying to figure all out exactly what the passage is saying to me. Sometimes it isn't always clear at first, and we must read it again, and pray and ask God to allow the words to speak to us. One thing I really did like in this passage was verses 23-24, where it explains that we can go directly to the Father and ask Him for things, and He will grant our requests. We will receive, and we will have abundant joy. How awesome is that? We can just go right to Him. So read it yourself and see. :o) As always there is a link on the left where you can read it on line, or read it in your own Bibles.

Last night I attempted Chinese Orange chicken. It actually turned out quite good. I've been having a lot of fun trying new Chinese recipes. I picked up some Chinese cook books at Barnes and Nobles, and I've picked up some other common Chinese cooking ingredients like sesame oil and rice vinegar. Also I had to stock up on more noodles cause mom really likes the fried noodles that I make. I don't know what I'll try tonight. We'll see how long I can make different stuff before my parents get sick of Chinese. LOL

Traumatic Weekend

It was a very traumatic weekend. Well for Notre Dame fans anyways. I can say that this game against USC sure lived up to all the hipe and publicity it got though. It had the highest view rating for a football game on NBC in over a decade! The South Bend airport was one of the busiest airports in the nation just a couple of hours before game time with an airplane coming in every couple of minutes. Of course they were all private jets coming for the game. The airport ran out of room to park them all! I watched out the window at work, at the interstate, and you wouldn't believe the traffic and the number of limos and buses I saw coming to the game. There were so many celebrities at that game!

The game was great anyways. An on-the-edge-of-your-seat, and nail biting game the whole way. We were either tied or ahead of USC the whole game. In the last few minutes of the game we were ahead of USC, but then they scored, and tied us. We had 5 minutes left to get another touchdown and gain back the lead. We did it. It gave USC only 2 minutes left in the game to try and win. If they scored a touchdown they would win by 3 points. Thats how close the game was. Unfortunately we let USC get all the way down by our endzone within the last few seconds. Only a few more seconds left. Notre Dame fans were biting their nails, hoping the clock would run out, and they wouldn't be able to score in time, or make their play. USC, goes for it, but they fumble! Time runs out! We win!!!! Notre Dame fans and students start rushing the field, but wait! The stupid refs, say that when USC fumbled the ball it went out of bounds right before the clock ran out of time, and they give USC back 7 more seconds!! What a bunch of crap! USC makes another play. They get their touchdown this time. USC wins by 3 points, but not without a penalty call for unsportmans like conduct. Because someone pushed the player with the ball over the goal line because he actually didn't make it all the way in at first. Doesn't matter that call doesn't take away their touchdown. Notre Dame fans are just taken aback, and can't believe it. We had the game won, and it was taken away from us. No one can't say that our team sure didn't fight though. USC knows we were there to win, and we would have if it wasn't for some bogus calls at the end. This game will go down in the record books.

Stuck at Work

Here it is game day, and I am stuck at work. The biggest ND game of the year. We're up against #1 ranked USC. Luckily though my friend Eric though told me about a little portable b/w TV that was under his desk at work, so I have found that, plugged it in, and it works! I can watch the game now, just in silence, but at least I can watch the game. I don't want to have the volume turned up in case I get a phone call or multiple calls. Eric said he didn't know where that TV came from that it was there when he took over that desk, so Bill, who had that desk last must have left it there. Oh well! I was just glad it worked because it was all dusty, and the antenna was broken off.

I don't mind being at work. I can use the extra money. Calls need to come in though if I'm going to make in any money. So far it's been dead. I can understand why though, I mean everyone is getting ready for the ND Vs USC game! LOL Can't say as I blame 'em right?!

I had the interview for that part time job at BuyCo on Thursday. It went really well, and hopefully I will be hear from then sometime this next week. That is when he said they will be calling people to let them know. He made it seem like I would be hearing from him, but we'll see. The employee perks of working there are ridiculously awesome. You get 50% off anything in the store! 50%!! Plus if you want to just borrow something, you can. As long as you return it within like 3-5 days. How cool is that? My problem would be not spending all of what I make. I'll just have to pray and ask God to help me with self control. LOL

Well I guess that's about all. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Halloween Costume Ideas

So every year at work they decide to let us have some fun around here and dress up for Halloween. Now last year on Halloween I was living in Montana, but the year before the brass team here totally ruled when we made a team effort in our costume design. All the brass sales agents wore the orange prison outfit with our extension numbers written small in black on the front left, and large in black across the back. They were our prison ID numbers. Then our brass team leader was the the sheriff, or prison guard you couls say. It was great. We totally played into it all day. Our team leader, Bill, had gone and gotten this play cop set, so he had plastic night stick, gun, and badge all hooked to his belt, and then he had real handcuffs. Everywhere one of us prisoners wanted to go somewhere he would take us in handcuffs. It was great. Now last year I was disappointed to hear my brass team made no team effort for Halloween to come up with a group costume idea. This year we are going to. We've played through some ideas, and I think we have finally come up with one. We are looking at coming as the Blue Men Group. It's perfect! We all have black clothes we can wear. All we have to do is get some rubber swim caps to cover up our hair to give us the bald look, and then paint over our faces, heads, and hands with blue paint. It will be great. Seeing these blue people sitting in their cubicles. The only thing we can't take to heart with the Blue Men Group is that I don't think they talk. We kind of have to do that with our jobs. LOL Oh well! So thats the plan for now I think unless we come up with something else. If anyone else has some good ideas for a group theme for a group of 5 let me know!

Interview

So I have an interview with a store called BuyCo. Well I'm supposed to anyways. Tomorrow morning I'm supposed to call them to set up the actual time for it. It's just for a part time spot for in the evenings and some weekends. I could use some extra hours and extra cash outside of my full time job. BuyCo is this cool place though. They sell all used DVD's, video games, and CD's. Even like used game consoles though, and even like stereo and DVD or VCR players and stuff like that. The cool thing is that they will even get in the vintage stuff like Atari games and equipment or even the old original Nintendo stuff. I pick up a lot of stuff from there though, especially DVD's so when I had stopped in there this past weekend I saw they were looking for full and part time help so, I figured hey why not! :o) We'll see what happens though.

I was also very excited today because I heard from a very long lost friend of mine. She was my Intervarsity Christian Fellowship leader in College. I have not seen or heard from her in ummmmm . . . . probably about 5 0r 6 years. I had to do a little detective work of my own to try and get in touch with her, but it worked! Today I got an e-mail from her, and it was very exciting. I am hoping that we can keep in touch, and perhaps get together some time.

Thats my excitement for the day. The rest of the day was filled with work, work, work, and more work as usual. Oh! I almost forgot though! This week's scripture ready is Luke chapter 5. I encourage you all to read it as I always do. In this reading you will see the awesome and amazing powers of Jesus. I mean how many of us always heard the storys in Sunday School and even in sermons today of Jesus healing the sick, the blind, and feeding the hungry. I think we've all heard so much that sometimes we just let it go in one ear and out the other without letting it really sink in. Read Luke 5, and really let the stories in the chapter sink in, and see how awesome Jesus really is. His wondrous works, and powers. He can do so much for us, and all we have to do is ask. How cool is that? Again, use the link at the left to check it out, or grab your own Bibles. Take a look. Take care all!

Wallace & Gromit

Yesterday Susan and I took her daughter Emily to see the new Wallace & Gromit movie. It was awesome! I think I was more excited to see it then they were. LOL I remember when the 3 of us went and saw Madagascar and we first saw the preview for it cause I got so excited. Wallace and Gromit totally rock. It's claymation. The same people who did that Chicken Run movie, but this is about 100x's better. It was so funny in the theater too because I think I heard more adults laughing then the kids, but there were spots where the kids were laughing too. I just think the adults catch more things then the kids do, but that would make sense. Anyways, I highly recommend the movie to everyone. :o)

Today, I got stuck working. I always said I would never work a Sunday because Sundays are supposed to be a day of rest. You go to church, and spend time with family or friends. However I owed one of my co-workers a day on a weekend when he worked for me the Saturday I went to the Notre Dame game cause I had gotten scheduled for that Saturday, and there was no way I was working when I had tickets to a Notre Dame game. Unfortunately Jack usually gets scheduled on Sundays on the weekends, so I'm working for him today so that we are even. Plus he had a wedding to go to. Oh well, I guess this one time will be okay. Sides it's completely dead. Can't make any sales with the few calls I have had either cause our complete system is down for ordering, and our website. We just have to answer the phones right now and tell them to basically call back. It's kinda pointless really. Oh well. Hey, maybe they'll just send us home. Yeah, right, in my dreams.

Well I hope everyone else has had a good weekend, and have a good week! Oh, and I should have the weekly scripture to post later. So check back.

Back to Work

Well I was finally feeling a bit better today, and well enough to go back to work. After being gone all week I had 22 voice mails, and I don't know how many e-mails. I was at least able to get caught up on everything okay though, and didn't feel too bogged down by things. Got quite a few sales in, and even though I was sick during the week my sales still went up without me being there, so that was sweet! LOL I must have had some customers put some sales in on the website and mention my name, or some backorders come in and ship out.

I'm bummed that I have tomorrow off, and there is no Notre Dame game, but then next Saturday I work, and its the biggest game I wanted to see this season with Notre Dame playing here at home against USC who are ranked number 1. I'm hoping to be able to catch part of that game. Kick off is at 2:30 and I get off at 5:00 so I should be able to catch the second half at least, or most of it. It will be fun to see how we do against them, and heck if we can manage to some how beat them I will be just in awe of my team then. I'm not sure what our current rank is after our win against Purdue last weekend. We were at 14, but that should have gone up now. Well hopefully they practice practice practice with their break this weekend in preparation agains USC. Go Irish!

I think tomorrow I am going to see the new Wallace and Gromit movie with Susan and Emily. As soon as I saw the very first preview for that that they were doing a full length Wallace and Gromit movie I got so excited. Wallace and Gromit are absolutely hilarious. It's British humor done in claymation. It's clean funny humor though, so Susan and I are going to take Emily to see it.

Well hope everyone has a good weekend!

Weekend

Well the weekend was pretty good. Even though I had to work on Saturday, I lucked out because the Notre Dame game against Purdue didn't start until 6:45p.m., so I was able to watch the entire game! I was very excited about that. We kicked Purdue's butts too! Beat them 49 to 28. It was such a nice game to watch. Everyone was favoring Purdue because they had beaten us the past 2 years, but we showed them, and showed 'em good.

Sunday after church my mom and I ran a few errands, and I was excited because I got a new wok style of frying pan special so I can cook Chinese food. It is impossible to cook in a regular pan or skillet because there is not enough room and you just make a mess. So then Sunday night I came home and made veggie fried rice and black peppered chicken. The black peppered chicken I had never tried before, and found the recipe on line. It came out okay, but not like what I've had in restaurants, so I'm going to have to experiment with it some more.

Well all day on Sunday I was starting to feel kind of blah, and over the past few days my right ear has been kind of bugging me. Well then this morning I woke up feeling really not so good. My stomach was hurting, my head was hurting, and my ear was still aching. Needless to say I did not make it in to work to day. I was feeling quite miserable, and still am not feeling so hot. I made a doctor's appointment, and found out I have an infection in my ear canal that started it all. Guess it kinda spread and gave me a sinus infection that is giving me the headache and stomach ache. He gave me some drugs though, as doctors usually do, and so hopefully I'll be feeling better here soon.

One other thing for today before I sign out, and that is this weeks scripture reading. It is 2 Kings chapter 5 versus 1-31. It is the story of Naaman, a warrior who suffers from leprosy. He has the chance to see a prophet of God and be healed of his leprosy. When he is told by a messenger from the prophet to simply wash himself 7 times in the river Jordan and he will be healed, Naaman is outraged because he thought he would be touched, that it would be something more grand of a presentation. Eventually he does go and wash himself 7 times in the Jordan, and he is instantly healed. Read this story. Either in your own Bibles, or using the link I provide. It shows how awesome God is and will provide for us if we just follow Him, and do as He asks. Sometimes things can be simple. It's not always a big production. I think sometimes we look for too large and complicated of an answer to problems when sometimes it is so easy and God is showing it right there in front of us. Now there is more to this story, so read all the way through verse 31. Take care!
